Dubai readies for second edition of world’s biggest AI prompting challenge
#UAE #prompting – Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DCAI) has announced 24 finalists for the second Global Prompt Engineering Championship, with participants from 16 countries set to compete in Dubai from 22–23 April during Dubai AI Week. The championship, which drew over 3,800 entries from 125 countries, offers a AED 1 million ($270k) prize pool and features four categories: Art, Video, Coding, and Gaming. Finalists will demonstrate advanced generative AI skills using tools such as ChatGPT and Midjourney at AREA 2071 in Emirates Towers.
SO WHAT? – Dubai government was one of the first to recognise the importance of prompt engineering and announced plans for the first Global Prompt Engineering Championship in 2023. The championship highlights Dubai’s positioning as a global hub for AI talent and innovation, and helps extend its role in shaping the future of AI.

24 finalists have been selected to take part in the second Global Prompt Engineering Championship, which takes place in Dubai from 22–23 April during Dubai AI Week.
The global competition is organised by the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DCAI) and backed by the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy.
This year’s competition received over 3,800 entries from 125 countries, and the24 finalists were selected through a peer voting system to compete in the finals.
Finalists will compete across four categories—Art, Video, Coding, and Gaming—for a total prize pool of AED 1 million ($270k).
Participants will use leading generative AI tools such as ChatGPT and Midjourney to create original, high-quality content within timed challenges.
Entries will be judged on accuracy, quality, and creativity by a panel of experts from organisations such as Microsoft, Dubai Police, and Dubai Culture.

ZOOM OUT – Dubai AI Week, held from 21 to 25 April, is already emerging as a global platform for AI, combining policy, innovation, and commercial activity. The week’s programme aims to showcase AI breakthroughs, promote global cooperation, and address real-world challenges. With flagship events like the Dubai AI Festival at DIFC and the Machines Can See Summit, Dubai AI Week is expected to attract over 10,000 attendees from more than 100 countries, with 180 speakers and 150+ sessions.
