Abu Dhabi launches AI training for school teachers
ADEK and 42 Abu Dhabi launch AI skills initiative for educators
#UAE #education – Abu Dhabi’s Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), in collaboration with coding school 42 Abu Dhabi, has launched the AI for Teachers programme, equipping educators with AI-driven teaching strategies. The initiative follows a structured three-stage roadmap, starting with foundational learning, followed by an intensive bootcamp, and culminating in a two-week capstone project. The programme aims to enhance classroom engagement, implement personalised learning strategies, and optimise administrative workflows across the teaching cycle, from planning to assessment.
SO WHAT? - This initiative reflects Abu Dhabi’s strategic approach to how educational systems approach AI integration, placing teachers — not just technology — at the center of the transformation. By focusing on practical applications rather than theoretical concepts, Abu Dhabi is both empowering teachers to leverage AI to the best effect and creating a community of teachers that develop and share best practices. Educators will be able to adapt instructional materials based on peer-learning, data-driven insights and student performance.
Here are some key details about the new AI for Teachers programme:
Abu Dhabi’s Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), in collaboration with 42 Abu Dhabi, has launched the AI for Teachers programme: a professional development initiative designed to integrate AI into teaching practices.
AI for Teachers follows a three-stage training roadmap: pre-bootcamp learning, a two-day in-person bootcamp, and a two-week capstone project.
Teachers collaborate in mentor-led peer-to-peer sessions to refine AI-based lesson planning, assessment, and student engagement strategies.
The capstone project allows teachers to implement AI tools in real-world classroom settings, with ongoing virtual support.
The pilot phase saw two cohorts of teachers from private and charter schools complete the training, achieving a 97% Net Promoter Score, indicating a high level of satisfaction.
ADEK aims to align the initiative with the UAE’s AI Strategy 2031, reinforcing the nation’s goal of becoming a global leader in AI integration across sectors.
ZOOM OUT - The UAE's investment in teacher-focused AI training mirrors a broader global trend where countries are recognising that successful integration of AI into education systems depends on educators being empowered. The UAE’s AI Strategy 2031 prioritises AI in education to drive innovation and workforce readiness. By increasing the AI literacy of teaching staff, Abu Dhabi is both empowering its education system to embrace AI tools and platforms today, and also preparing it to move purposely forward into a new data-driven future where personalised learning and adaptive teaching methods will become the norm.
