ADNOC & AIC announce ENERGYai, first-of-its-kind Agentic AI solution
ENERGYai to begin testing with real-world datasets by the end of 2024
#UAE #energy - ADNOC (Abu Dhabi National Oil Company), and energy-sector focused AI developer AIQ, have announced ENERGYai, a first-of-its-kind agentic AI solution aimed at accelerating the global energy transformation. Combining ADNOC's 80 years of data with advanced AI from AIQ, G42, and Microsoft, the ambitious three-year development programme will enable groundbreaking efficiencies, with testing using real-world data sets to begin by the end of 2024.
SO WHAT? - With an ambition is to become the world's most AI-enabled energy group, ADNOC already harnesses breakthrough technologies in its planning, decision-making and operations. ADNOC opened its Panorama Digital Command Centre in 2017, an AI-powered digital hub that provides senior management with access to insights, alerts and analysis based on big data from across its operations. The world’s first autonomous well control system RoboWell, developed with the group’s joint-venture AI company AIQ, is now being deployed across 300 onshore and offshore wells in Abu Dhabi. Now, ADNOC plans to set a new benchmark with ENERGYai, connecting data from across its entire enterprise and bridging the gap between data-intensive energy operations and sustainability goals.
Here are some key points from the announcement:
ADNOC Group has announced a pioneering agentic AI solution called ENERGYai that integrates a 70 billion parameter large language model (LLM) and autonomous agents to create a system designed to “perceive, think, learn, and act” autonomously, enhancing operational efficiency.
ENERGYai will deploy AI agents tailored to critical energy tasks, including seismic analysis, energy efficiency, and real-time process monitoring, to improve decision-making and sustainability.
ENERGYai is designed to integrate seamlessly into ADNOC’s existing systems and technologies, creating a scalable solution that grows with the company's operational needs.
The solution is being developed as a collaborative effort with G42 and Microsoft,, integrating best-in-class technologies including open subsurface data universe (OSDU) frameworks and state-of-the-art models, such as OpenAI’s models.
Trained on petabytes of proprietary ADNOC data, ENERGYai leverages cutting-edge machine learning and predictive analytics, offering unprecedented data insights and enabling quick, accurate decisions.
ENERGYai is projected to cut the time to build complex geological models by up to 75%, significantly speeding up development planning for CO2 storage and other initiatives.
By enabling faster scenario analysis, the AI solution can reduce planning timelines from years to weeks, minimizing costs and emissions across ADNOC’s operations.
By reducing emissions and optimizing resource use, ENERGYai aligns with ADNOC’s goal to drive sustainable energy production and meet UAE’s long-term net-zero targets.
AIQ, founded in 2020, continues to drive the UAE’s AI ambitions, enhancing the country’s leadership in energy-focused AI and contributing to its AI ecosystem.
