AIREV shakes up corporate AI app development with OnDemand
New OnDemand AIOS platform fast-tracks GenAI & IoT app development
#UAE #appdevelopment - UAE artificial intelligence developer AIREV has begun a beta trial of a new decentralised AI operating system (AIOS) and marketplace, which aims to revolutionise how AI apps and services are developed, deployed, and consumed. Called OnDemand, the new platform enables AI developers and AI users to build Generative AI and Internet of Things (IoT) apps in minutes, integrating functionality from plugins and data sources using the AI model of their choice. Once created and tested, users can generate code for a production-ready app in a choice of software languages to use in their own AI environment.
SO WHAT? - There is a growing appetite among business and government organisations in the region to create Generative AI apps, but user demand for new apps often outstrips the internal capacity to deliver them. Meanwhile, the availability of AI development services is fragmented, making choosing development partners more complicated. So, with skills and experience in AI app development at a premium, many organisations are forced to limit AI app production and experimentation. OnDemand sets out to free organisations from limitations, allowing them to dramatically accelerate development of many apps and therefore apply their own development resources more strategically.
Here is some key information about OnDemand:
OnDemand is a new AI operating system from AIREV offering a Platform as a Service (PaaS) for all levels of users to fast-track development, integration and deployment of production-ready AI and IoT apps in hours, or even minutes.
AIREV is better known for being the developer behind School Hack AI, a Generative AI study assistant and collaboration app for students.
AIREV leveraged its experience with building and deploying School Hack AI to inform the functionality of its new OnDemand platform, aiming to make it easy for users to create, integrate and deploy production-ready apps.
OnDemand is powered by AIREV’s own RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) technology, originally developed for the School Hack AI platform, which allows users’ apps to communicate with documents, image processing, video and audio.
The app development platform provides users with the option of creating apps on a variety of foundation models including OpenAI’s GPT, Anthropic’s Claude, Google Gemini, and Core42’s Jais Arabic LLM.
Core to OnDemand’s ease-of-use, is a library of AI and data plugins that users can add to their AI app and integrate with data sources. The platforms four universal APIs allow users to integrate plugins, data sources and apps seamlessly in an instant.
OnDemand also allows users to seamlessly integrate AI agents including agents for Slack, Discord and a website agent. More AI agents are on the way.
The app development platform is able to output code for users in a variety of software languages.
OnDemand offers enterprise users additional flexibility via Bring Your Own Inference (BYOI) and Bring Your Own Model (BYOM) options, allowing organisations to use their own platforms and deploy on-premises.
Soon AIREV plans to integrate MQTT plugins with OnDemand, allowing users to communicate with and control IoT devices in real-time.
ZOOM OUT - There are an increasing number of startups, tech firms and institutions developing AIOS platforms that aim to improve the ease and speed at which AI apps can be developed and implemented. Platform developers have slightly different approaches and priorities, and their platforms are aimed at different profiles of users, with varying technical and knowledge requirements. AIREV’s approach is to provide all levels of user with an intuitive, easy-to-use end-to-end app creation and integration platform, allowing them to create production-ready apps for their own environment, with limited data science or machine learning knowledge required.
IMO - The ease-of-use makes OnDemand an interesting proposition for enterprise users, allowing them to do more with less resources. Whilst it may not be a good fit for all use cases, it should certainly help bring down the barriers for AI app production, allowing technical teams and their end-users more experience with such apps. Importantly for end-users, this should also mean that AI apps for some use cases that would normally have a long wait in the production queue, can instead be turned around quite quickly. Meanwhile, OnDemand's integration with Core42's Jais Arabic large language model, should draw significant attention for the new platform from organisations across the Arab world.
