New ATRC technology venture to transform vehicles into AVs
SteerAI will focus on autonomous solutions for logistics and defence sectors
#UAE #AVs - Abu Dhabi’s Advanced Technology Research Council’s (ATRC) commercialisation arm, VentureOne, has launched SteerAI, an AI-driven mobility solution company that will develop solutions to convert industrial vehicles into autonomous systems. Leveraging technologies developed by the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), SteerAI will offer advanced autonomy for logistics and defence vehicles, combined with fleet management solutions, with future plans to expand into maritime applications.
SO WHAT? - The ATRC is expected to launch three new high profile tech ventures by the end of 2024. The council's commercialisation arm, VentureOne, will soon launch a venture to 'transform data security in the quantum era' and an Agritech venture with robotic technologies. The launch the smart autonomous mobility venture SteerAI is the first of the three planned companies to be launched. The ATRC’s strategy is to translate the pioneering research produced by the Technology Innovation Institute into commercia products and services. The first company created to capitalise on TII’s research and development was AI71, which was launched in November 2023.
Here are some key details from the ATRC’s launch of SteerAI:
The Advanced Technology Research Council’s (ATRC) has launched SteerAI, an autonomous mobility company, established by the council’s commercialisation arm, VentureOne,
SteerAI uses a modular hardware kit and AI software stack to convert ground vehicles into autonomous machines, enhancing operational efficiency and protecting human workforces.
The autonomous system’s advanced navigation algorithms and high-precision sensors allow vehicles to perform complex missions, adapt to challenging terrains, and avoid obstacles in real time, reducing the risk of human error.
SteerAI technology, developed by TII, is vehicle-agnostic, designed to integrate seamlessly with various industrial vehicle types and configurations, enabling easy adaptation across sectors.
Alongside the autonomous mobility software stack, SteerAI offers a remote fleet management system with mission planning, monitoring, and data-driven analytics to optimise vehicle deployment and performance.
By minimising downtime and maximising efficiency, SteerAI’s autonomous solution is expected to reduce operational costs in high-demand industries like logistics and defence.
SteerAI’s initial effort will focus on ground vehicles, but it has plans to extend its technology to marine vessels.
The SteerAI launch reflects the ATRC’s vision to drive real-world impact with cutting-edge technology and strengthens the UAE’s position in the global autonomous systems landscape.
