Bold Technologies to develop AI cognitive city platform: Aion Sentia
Bold Technologies and My Aion Inc. to create cognitive city platform by 2027
#UAE #smartcities - Abu Dhabi-based Bold Technologies has announced plans to develop a new AI cognitive city platform, called Aion Sentia, scheduled for completion by 2027. The $2.5 billion project is being developed under a Build-Operate-Transfer model through a partnership between Abu Dhabi-based Bold Technologies, a subsidiary of Bold Holding, and My Aion Inc, a new joint venture formed by Bold Technologies and Italian AI firm Synapsia. The cognitive city platform will integrate advanced artificial intelligence across all urban sectors, designed to learn and evolve with residents through predictive services and automated infrastructure.
SO WHAT? - The announcement follows an agreement signed between Milan-headquartered AI pioneer Synapsia and Abu Dhabi’s Bold Technologies in March. Under the deal, the the Italian company would develop an platform to deliver AI-powered city management services. The two companies also agreed to form a joint venture called My Aion Inc., which will eventually be listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX). This month’s announcement of the development of Aion Sentia indicates that plans seem to be moving quickly ahead.
Here are some key points about the Aion Sentia announcement:
Bold Technologies has announced plans to develop a cognitive city platform, called Aion Sentia, scheduled for completion by 2027. This follows the signing of a smart city technology deal between the Abu Dhabi company and Milan-based Synapsia earlier this year. The main contractor for the project will be My Aion Inc., a joint venture formed by the two companies, which will be headed up by Synapsia Co-Founder and CEO Daniele Marinelli.
The news was announced by BOLD Technologies and My Aion Inc. at a launch event in Abu Dhabi.
The Aion Sentia project will be powered by MAIA, a first-of-its-kind AI cognitive operating system developed by Synapssia. The system functions as the central hub for all city services, offering capabilities far beyond traditional applications through real-time decision-making based on user data via a Personal Profile Graph.
MAIA will integrate multiple urban services into a single platform, allowing residents to seamlessly manage transportation scheduling, smart home functions, healthcare support, and numerous other services without switching between different applications or interfaces.
The cognitive platform is engineered to manage critical urban sectors including mobility, energy, education, healthcare, and digital services, ensuring tailored user experiences while optimizing resource allocation through real-time data analysis and personalized recommendations.
Initial implementation is expected within the next 18 months, with plans to expand the cognitive city model to additional global locations across Europe and North America after the Abu Dhabi pilot project is established.
My Aion has recently established a strategic partnership with negg Group, an Italian cybersecurity firm specializing in protection for critical infrastructure, to integrate MAIA's cognitive framework with advanced security technologies ensuring resilience against evolving digital threats.
ZOOM OUT - Saudi Arabia's NEOM project has been championing the coming transformation of smart cities into cognitive cities for some years now. These are AI-powered cities that are built around humans, not technology. 5G/6G, AI, IoT and other emerging technologies wil help cognitive cities predict and react to what people need in real-time, improving the lives of residents and visitors. However, due to the size and scale of NEOM its cognitive city model has yet to be put into practice. This could create opportunity for cognitive city platforms like Aion Sentia and others to bring solutions to market first.
