Dubai RTA launches AI traffic analysis platform
RTA deploys AI system to further optimise road traffic management operations
#UAE #smartcities - Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched "Data Drive – Clear Guide", an artificial intelligence-powered platform to further optimise its road traffic management operations. The new system monitors and analyses five years of historical traffic data alongside real-time flow information across the emirate's road network. The AI-powered platform instantly identifies road conditions, speed analysis, recurring traffic patterns, congestion points and smooth flow periods, enabling fast data-driven decision-making and issue resolution. The new system supports Dubai’s goal to become the world's smartest city.
SO WHAT? - This platform transforms RTA traffic management processes from reactive manual processes that previously required weeks for data compilation and analysis into real-time decision-making capabilities. The RTA’s new “Data Drive – Clear Guide” platform provides instant messages and notifications to staff on traffic movement in the emirate, enabling fast data-driven decision-making to address day-to-day traffic challenges.
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched "Data Drive – Clear Guide", an AI platform that monitors and analyses five years of historical traffic data alongside real-time flow information across the emirate's road network.
The platform provides instant notifications on traffic movement, advanced analytical tools for performance assessment across different timeframes, and benchmarking capabilities against historical data to identify recurring congestion patterns and unexpected speed drops.
Real-time monitoring capabilities enable swift intervention during traffic diversions and events, allowing RTA teams to implement appropriate measures and minimise delays through data-driven decision-making processes.
The system processes vast volumes of traffic information from leading international specialist firms using intelligent tools, replacing previous manual compilation methods that required weeks with real-time analysis delivered within minutes.
Interactive mapping functionality displays current road conditions with geographic analysis capabilities, allowing users to specify areas for study based on average speed, traffic density and travel time indicators.
Automated report generation assesses and analyses conditions before and after road works, helping evaluate project effectiveness through large, reliable and continuously updated datasets supporting strategic planning decisions.
The platform supports RTA's broader artificial intelligence deployment strategy aimed at alleviating Dubai congestion whilst delivering best-in-class services through intelligent data analytics, traffic management and autonomous mobility integration.
ZOOM OUT - In June 2025, RTA launched its Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2030, announcing 81 projects targeting 30% travel time reductions, 40% productivity increases and 20% operational cost savings by 2030. The comprehensive strategy builds on over 40 AI use cases deployed since 2017 and operates across six pillars including smart mobility, intelligent traffic and cognitive licensing. RTA's Big Data Platform now manages 670 terabytes of data integrated with 49 systems, whilst the authority has received multiple regional awards for AI innovation, positioning Dubai's transport sector at the forefront of artificial intelligence adoption globally.
