#India #LLMs - UAE artificial intelligence powerhouse G42 has unveiled NANDA, a groundbreaking 13-billion parameter Hindi large language model (LLM), at the UAE-India Business Forum in Mumbai, India. Trained on 2.13 trillion tokens, NANDA is a collaboration between G42’s applied research arm Inception, the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), and Californian AI infrastructure company Cerebras Systems.

This move also strengthens G42’s global positioning in the AI space, after building a reputation for developing Arabic language AI models. The release of NANDA showcases the Abu Dhabi company’s capability to apply its knowledge and experience in development non-English language AI models to languages other than Arabic.

• G42 has announced the NANDA 13 billion parameter Hindi-centric large language model, trained on 2.13 trillion tokens, developed by the group’s applied research arm Inception, in collaboration with the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), and Cerebras Systems.

• With initiatives like Digital India and Startup India driving technological transformation, NANDA aligns with India's AI ambitions, offering tools for over 500 million Hindi speakers.

• The announcement comes a little more than one year after G42 launched its high successful Jais pen-source Arabic large language model. The Jais family of large language models now includes models from 590 million parameters, to 70 billion parameters in size.

• The NANDA LLM was trained on the Condor Galaxy, one of the world’s most powerful AI supercomputers, built by G42 and Cerebras Systems.

• The project involved key contributions from MBZUAI, the world’s first graduate AI research university, and Cerebras.
