Jordan hits 85.5% government service digitisation
AI integration to be expanded as Jordan's digitisation drive nears completion
#Jordan #digitaltransformation - Jordan has digitised 85.5% of its targeted government procedures, with plans to reach full digitalisation of eligible public services by the end of 2026, according to Jordan’s Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Sami Smeirat. Speaking to Jordan’s state news agency Petra, Smeirat said that future phases will focus on expanding artificial intelligence integration, data management, and advanced automation for advanced public services. The country has developed an integrated, citizen-centric digital government ecosystem over the past four years, aligned with the Jordanian government’s Economic Modernization Vision. Active users on Jordan’s national digital identity app Sanad have surpassed 2.88 million.
SO WHAT? - Jordan’s rollout of digital public services reflects the re-engineering administrative processes rather than simply moving paper forms online. Not only does this ensure that citizens actually experience faster services, but this lays the groundwork for automated and advanced digital services powered by AI. The AI Strategy and Implementation Plan (2023-2027) earmarks public sector efficiency as a priority and the next phase of development for digital services will be to integrate artificial intelligence and implement a pipeline of priority AI use cases.
