University selected 38 students from 150 applications for summer programme
#UAE #education - Abu Dhabi’s AI research university Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) has launched its NextGen Summer Program to develop the next generation of technology leaders through hands-on artificial intelligence training. The week-long initiative brings together 38 high-performing students from Grades 10-12 across the UAE, to collaborate on real-world AI projects spanning healthcare, mobility, climate, and creative industries using platforms including Python, Google Colab, and Kaggle.
SO WHAT? - NextGen Summer Program is one of a growing number of youth initiatives from MBZUAI that aim to empower local and international students. For example the university recently concluded its largest Undergraduate Research Internship Program (UGRIP) with 57 students from 24 countries participating in the four-week residency. This year’s summer programme targets secondary school students bolstering early-stage AI education supporting the UAE’s effots to build a pipeline of skilled talentin one of the fastest-growing technology sectors globally.

The programme covers practical AI applications across four key sectors: healthcare, mobility, climate change, and creative industries. Sessions include AI ethics and bias training to ensure responsible technology development and awareness of societal impact.
Members of MBZUAI faculty lead the workshops alongside industry mentors who provide real-world expertise.
The week-long immersive format hosted at MBZUAI's Abu Dhabi campus provides intensive learning in emerging technologies. Students gain hands-on experience in designing, testing, and evaluating AI models through practical project work.
The initiative directly supports the UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031 aimed at establishing global leadership in AI innovation.
