e&, MBZUAI & UNDP launch SDG AI Platform at UN HQ
New AI platform to empower Arab world with AI solutions
#NewYork #UNDP - The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), UAE technology and telecommunications group e& and Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) launched the Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Development Platform (AI4SD) at the United Nations headquarters during UN General Assembly week. The platform was developed to allow Arab states to advance their Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) agendas under the UN’s Digital for Sustainable Development (D4SD) initiative. AI4SD will address critical data challenges in areas like agricultural resilience, climate action, and social cohesion.
SO WHAT? - The announcement of the new Digital for Sustainable Development (D4SD) follows a partnership agreement signed during the World Governments Summit (WGS) in February between MBZUAI and the UNDP to advance the use of AI in supporting the implementation of UN SDGs. Born out of discussions around the United Nations Climate Change Conference held in the UAE last year, COP28, the university was the founding knowledge partner the UNDP’s AI for Sustainable Development Platform (AI4SDP). Led by e& and MBZUAI, the first phase of the Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Development Platform (AI4SD) has been announced just seven months later, demonstrating both UAE AI capability and the country’s ability to move quickly to help solve global challenges.
Here are some key details of the AI4SD launch:
