#Qatar #datacentres - Qatar’s national AI company Qai will host its advanced GPU infrastructure inside a Tier III certified data centre run by Qatari managed IT services provider MEEZA. The agreement keeps Qai’s compute services and customer data in Qatar, under national data protection and cybersecurity regulations. MEEZA will supply high-density power and managed services covering operations, monitoring and lifecycle management. MEEZA operates five certified data centres with a combined capacity of 18MW. Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
SO WHAT? - By outsourcing to MEEZA, Qai has skipped the slowest part of building AI capacity and can focus on its primary mission of scaling AI deployment for the State of Qatar. The deal also gives Qatari government department and enterprises a local answer to data residency questions, whilst Qai develops platforms and solutions. However, Qai is not yet one year old and so it remains to be seen how the national I company’s long-term AI infrastructure strategy evolves.
KEY POINTS:
Qatar Investment Authority-backed national AI company Qai will deploy advanced GPU infrastructure with MEEZA. The equipment will sit in one of MEEZA’s certified, highly secure Qatari data centres. Deal value and GPU numbers were not disclosed.
The arrangement lets Qai offer compute services while meeting national data protection and cybersecurity regulations. Enterprises working with Qai can run AI workloads on data stored and governed under Qatari jurisdiction.
Qai will install the latest generation of high-performance GPUs, backed by MEEZA’s high-density power. MEEZA will also provide managed services covering infrastructure operations, monitoring and lifecycle management of the hardware.
MEEZA runs Tier III and ISO 27001 certified data centre services for government and enterprise customers. Its five Tier III facilities, called M-VAULTs, offer guaranteed uptime of 99.98%. M-VAULT 2 holds LEED Platinum certification and M-VAULT 3 holds LEED Gold.
MEEZA’s five certified data centres currently total 18MW. The 4MW M-VAULT 4 was completed in July. The first 6MW of a planned 24MW Um Garn campus is due online by end-2027, and a 16MW M-VAULT 7 is nearing final design.
In April 2026, MEEZA set out plans to quadruple its capacity over four years, funded through Shariah-compliant financing and cash reserves. The company says demand in Qatar is still running well ahead of supply.
