• Abu Dhabi is becoming an AI powerhouse, with multiple high-performing AI large language models being announced this year, including Technology Innovation Institute's 𝘍𝘢𝘭𝘤𝘰𝘯 LLM series and G42's 𝘑𝘢𝘪𝘴 Arabic language LLM.

• M42, which was formed via the merger of G42 Healthcare and Mubadala Health earlier this year, has open-sourced a new 70 billion parameter clinical LLM Med42. The company expects Med42 to catalyse global innovation in AI by providing a focused model prioritising the safety of patients, for global review by scientists, healthcare professionals and policy makers.

• Dr, Shadab Khan, Director of AI and Applied Science at M42, who runs a team of applied scientists and engineers to solve problems in healthcare AI. He has been based in Abu Dhabi developing AI models for real-world healthcare problems for the past five years. Dr Shadab’s team developed Med42.
