Naver wins $100m KSA digital twin deal; DeepMinds launches for deep tech

A few big deals from Saudi Arabia to share this week, as NEOM’s newly launched NEOM Investment Fund takes a stake in autonomous driving company Pony.ai and electric seaglider manufacturer REGENT. Meanwhile, dozens of deals were signed as a result of South Korean president Yoon Suk Yeol’s visit to Saudi Arabia this week, including a $100 million digital twin contract for Internet giant Naver, an agreement with Hyundai Motors to manufacturer in the Kingdom, plus a 50 year agreement with KT and Hyundai Engineering on digital infrastructure for smart cities.

50-year MOU targets Saudi digital infrastructure

KT is responsible for contributing digital transformation capabilities, while Hyundai Engineering will provide construction expertise. Hyundai to produce 50,000 cars per annum in Saudi Arabia
#Saudi #SouthKorea #investment - South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol yesterday confirmed Hyundai Motor Company plans to build a car manufacturing plant in Saudi Arabia as a joint venture with Public Investment Fund (PIF). The plant will have an annual production capacity of 50,000 electric vehicles and gas-powered cars. (Arab News)

#Saudi #investment - NEOM Investment Fund, a new wholly-owned subsidiary of NEOM, announced a $100 million investment, autonomous vehicle company Pony.ai to establish a joint venture in Saudi Arabia. Pony AI will develop, manufacture and deliver autonomous driving services, advanced vehicles, and smart vehicle infrastructure in NEOM and other key markets in MENA. (SPA)

Dubai Municipality tests self-driving road sweepers
#UAE #AVs - Dubai Municipality has begun testing a self-driving electric vehicle dedicated to cleaning bicycle routes along the beach districts of Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim. The smart sweeper, has smart sensors that enable it to avoid obstacles, and it is able to work eight hours continuously per charge. (Emirates News Agency)
