New K2 Think model debuts on OnDemand platform
OnDemand AIOS now offers K2 Think as an AI model option to developers
#UAE #AImodels – K2 Think, the UAE-developed open-source AI model, is now available on AIREV’s OnDemand agentic AI operating system (AIOS) and marketplace platform. The model has been deployed on the platform in collaboration with K2 Think developers G42 and Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI). OnDemand users can now create AI agents with the powerful reasoning model, that competes with systems more than ten times larger in mathematics and reasoning benchmarks. K2 Think, already being described as the world’s fastest open-source AI model.
SO WHAT? – Born out the UAE’s AI ecosystem, AIREV is backed by Core42, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi AI powerhouse G42, one of the two developers of K2 Think. Launched last year as one of the world’s first agentic AIOS systems. OnDemand makes it easy for developers to build and integrate AI apps, providing them with a choice of open-source models such as ChatGPT, Claude, Deepseek, Grok, and now K2 Think. The deployment will allow developers and enterprises to create fast, powerful AI agents that rival those based on much larger proprietary systems.
Here are all the details:
AIREV has added K2 Think, a 32 billion parameter open-source model, to its OnDemand platform, expanding its catalogue of advanced AI systems available to developers and enterprises.
The model has been deployed on the platform with the support of K2 Think developers G42,, and Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), the world’s first graduate-level AI university.
Benchmark tests show that K2 Think outperforms against proprietary AI systems ten to twenty times larger, performing strongly on tasks involving mathematics and complex reasoning.
OnDemand enables AI developers and AI users to build Generative AI and Internet of Things (IoT) apps in minutes, integrating functionality from a marketplace of AI agents and data sources using the AI model of their choice.
AIREV’s OnDemand platform gives users direct access to AI models such as ChatGPT, Claude, Deepseek and Grok, reducing barriers to entry for enterprises experimenting with or scaling AI capabilities.
The arrival of K2 Think follows a series of OnDemand updates that have already shaken up the AI app development space by improving accessibility and lowering costs. The platform recently added xAI’s Grok model to its list of options.
Open-source models like K2 Think provide a transparent and flexible alternative to closed systems, allowing organisations to build AI applications without vendor lock-in.
ZOOM OUT – The open-source AI community is building increasing momentum, with organisations such as Meta, Mistral, Hugging Face, Technology Innovation Institute (TII) and MBZUAI promoting transparency and community-driven development. The release of K2 Think, reconfirms the UAE’s commitment to creating world-class open-source AI models and going the extra mile to support the global development community. The new model is not only fully open-source, but provides a high level of transparency under the LLM360 community programme. Trraining data, parameter weights, software code for deployment and test-time optimisation have all been open-sourced.
