Open Innovation and WWT sign $100m partnership deal
World Wide Technology to acquire equity and AI-OS platform for R&D lab
#UAE #investment - One of the U.S.A.’s largest technology integrators, World Wide Technology (WWT), has announced a $100 million partnership deal with Abu Dhabi-based artificial intelligence technology startup Open Innovation AI. WWT will invest both in equity in Open Innovation and adopt the AI startup's AI Operating System (AIOS) platform, which allows enterprises to transform their AI and machine learning operations (MLOps). The U.S. tech giant will deploy the platform at its Advanced Technology Center (ATC), one of the world’s largest multi-OEM technology research and development labs.
SO WHAT? - Born out of Abu Dhabi's artificial intelligence research and development ecosystem, Open Innovation AI is leading the charge in accelerating the AI lifecycle with its cutting-edge AIOS platform, optimising development time for AI models, whilst reducing computational costs. Together with the global enthusiasm of enterprises across the world to develop their own AI models, comes a growing realisation for the obstacles of complexity and high costs. Open Innovation AI and WWT aim to change the way enterprise customers tackle AI development, by offering innovative, scalable, and cost-effective solutions built using the AIOS platform.
Open Innovation AI was founded in 2022 by CEO Abed Benaichouche, Ph.D and CTO Rachid Belmeskine, Ph.D who both were part of the founding teams of G42's Inception and the ADNOC-G42 joint venture AIQ.
Missouri-headquartered World Wide Technology (WWT) is one of the world’s largest privately held technology innovation companies and established its new Middle East operations in Abu Dhabi this year.
WWT was recently announced as the 'Custom Infrastructure' technology partner by the Advanced Technology Research Council's new company AI71, during its launch last month.
The U.S. technology company runs one of the largest technology Labs-as-a-Service worldwide and will use Open Innovation's AIOS to drive innovative and disruptive AI outcomes for customers across various sectors from sustainability to education.
Open Innovation AI will utilise WWT’s Advanced Technology Center (ATC), one of the world’s largest multi-OEM technology R&D labs, to drive innovative and disruptive AI outcomes for various sectors.
The startup has already acquired a enterprise customers across the globe for its AIOS Platform and MLOps offering.
Meanwhile, WWT takes equity as part of the partnership deal and Omar Mir, President of WWT, has been announced as Executive Board Member for Open Innovation AI.
ZOOM OUT - Abu Dhabi's artificial intelligence R&D ecosystem is one of the fastest growing in the world and has already delivered several high performing AI models that are being supported and sold by research institutions and technology companies in the emirate. However, the purchase of Open Innovation AI's AIOS platform is the first instance of a global technology firm adopting cutting edge AI technology from Abu Dhabi developers for a premier services offering, such as WTT's lab-as-a-Service (LaaS).
IMO - A growing list of Abu Dhabi-based research institutions, holding groups and technology companies have voiced ambitions to take their locally developed intellectual property (IP) global, with some signing key deals over the past couple of years. Open Innovation AI's new partnership with WWT could well turn out to be a key milestone in exporting UAE developed technology IP.
The new Open Innovation AI and WWT partnership can now offer services globally via an LLM-focused AIOS platform that delivers where most MLOps platforms end. This both positions the two technology partners on the cutting edge of AI model development and showcases some of the world's most advanced technology - made in Abu Dhabi - to the world.
