The forty-year-old semiconductor group is repositioning itself from a mobile chip supplier into a full-stack AI platform provider, and Saudi Arabia has become one of the key proving grounds for that shift. Opening in advance of Saudi Arabia’s technology mega-show LEAP, the milestone comes after a year of rapid growth in Saudi Arabia and follows eight months after the opening of a Qualcomm AI Engineering Centre in Riyadh. Sunday’s soft launch was attended by Wassim Chourbaji, President of Qualcomm EMEA, and Saeed AlDobas, Executive Vice President of AI Infrastructure and Cloud at Saudi Arabia’s PIF-owned AI company HUMAIN.
SO WHAT? - Qualcomm’s transformation from smartphone component supplier to AI infrastructure company needs somewhere to prove itself at scale, and the Gulf has become a key global testbed. Between HUMAIN’s 200-megawatt inference data centre, the Snapdragon-powered Horizon Pro AI PC, and Aramco’s industrial edge AI rollout, Qualcomm now has trailblazing, large-scale AI deployments running through Saudi partners. The new Riyadh office is another milestone in Qualcomm’s regional AI strategy following the alignment of technology partnerships, investment and engineering resources over the past two years.

The new office follows the opening of a Qualcomm AI Engineering Centre at HUMAIN’s headquarters in Riyadh, deepening a partnership that spans AI data centres, cloud infrastructure and edge computing.
Qualcomm’s regional strategy rests on three pillars: power-efficient edge computing built on its Snapdragon mobile heritage, the Dragonwing industrial IoT platform, and the Dragonfly portfolio targeting data centre inference
HUMAIN has already deployed 1,024 Qualcomm Cloud AI 100 accelerators as phase one of a data centre targeting 200 megawatts of capacity in 2026, with US software company Adobe as its first customer.
Qualcomm’s AI200 and AI250 accelerators, its first full-scale entry into data centre AI, will now be integrated into the same HUMAIN facility, with the AI250 introducing a new memory architecture when it launches from 2027.
HUMAIN’s Horizon Pro, unveiled in September 2025, is described as the first AI-native laptop designed in the Middle East and runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite processor. The PC uses HUMAIN’s proprietary operating system and Saudi-developed Arabic language model ALLaM.
Qualcomm also signed a memorandum of understanding with Aramco Digital in May 2025 to develop and commercialise edge AI industrial IoT solutions, connecting intelligent devices across Aramco’s 5G industrial network for use cases including predictive maintenance and visual anomaly detection.
Qualcomm has quickly, but methodically built the technology partnerships, customer agreements and in-region resources it needs to capitalise on its new portfoliuo of AI technologies across the Middle East.
ZOOM OUT - For four decades the company built its business on low-power mobile chip design. Today, it is leveraging that same power-efficiency expertise to AI infrastructure at every scale, from on-device edge inference to data centres. Its Dragonwing platform extends into industrial IoT and robotics, pairing AI processors with microcontrollers for real-time physical control. Meanwhile, its newer Dragonfly portfolio and C1000 CPU push directly into data centre inference, an area Qualcomm has never competed in before. The company now has live, large-scale deployments in Saudi Arabia and the UAE across its entire new AI stack, edge devices, industrial IoT and data centre inference. This could not only prove to be a winning combination for it’s Middle East business, but also become the global reference for how Qualcomm AI infrastructure can change the AI compute game.
