Saudi Ministry launches AI national economic data tool
Saudi Arabia’s INSAIGHTS addsAI to national data covering 7,500 economic indicators
#SaudiArabia #ArtificialIntelligence - Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Economy and Planning has launched a beta version of INSAIGHTS, an agentic AI tool built into its Data Saudi platform, letting users turn plain-language questions into instant analysis drawn from more than 7,500 economic and social indicators. The tool is designed for decision-makers, researchers, analysts and the public, and supports Saudi Vision 2030’s push for transparency in the national economy. The ministry says it plans to keep expanding the tool’s capabilities over the coming months.
SO WHAT? - Despire the wealth of data now available on Saudi Arabia’s economy, accessing that data can still prove to be a challenge for both national and global companies. Turning a static data portal into a queryable AI tool improves access and increases the value of that data. Lowering the barrier to access and analyse data allows anyone to pull insight out of Saudi Arabia’s national statistics. It’s also a small but telling example of Gulf governments moving agentic AI out of pilot projects and into public-facing services that help citizens and businesses.
KEY POINTS:
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Economy and Planning launched a beta version of INSAIGHTS, an agentic AI tool embedded in the Data Saudi platform, a unified reference for economic and social data.
The tool draws on more than 7,500 indicators, letting users convert questions into instant insights and analytics for data-driven decision-making.
INSAIGHTS is aimed at decision-makers, researchers, analysts and the general public, giving each group a way to explore the Kingdom’s economic and social data without specialist analysis skills.
The launch supports the aspirations of Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Transformation Program, with the ministry framing it as part of the Kingdom’s ambition for leadership in data-driven innovation and AI.
The ministry says it plans to continue developing and expanding INSAIGHTS’ capabilities over the coming months, following its beta release.
The Data Saudi platform itself launched in 2023 to consolidate socioeconomic data from local and global sources, with the aim of improving transparency around the national economy.
Since its 2023 launch, the ministry has worked to expand Data Saudi’s coverage across economic sectors and add more interactive multimedia and periodical publications.
ZOOM IN - The Ministry of Economy was clear to point out that the new INSAIGHTS platform is still a beta version and will be enhanced and improved. One of the obvious gaps is that there is much data that is not yet available via the platform. For example, the Saudi Ministry of Commerce has been tracking the number of business licence registrations and renewals that specific ‘artificial intelligence’ as a business activity (19,638 licences in 2025). However, the Data Saudi portal seems not to have integrated that data yet (see below).
