Smart Municipality Eye initiative deploys UAVs across Dubai parks
Drone system o monitor 52 million square metres of green spaces in Dubai City
#UnitedArabEmirates #drones – Dubai Municipality has launched the Smart Municipality Eye initiative, an aerial monitoring system deploying unmanned aerial vehicles equipped with artificial intelligence for proactive urban management. The system conducts aerial and field mapping across Dubai’s 52 million square metres of green spaces, analysing vegetation health, detecting irrigation or pest-related concerns and processing data through AI-powered platforms to support predictive maintenance. The initiative is backed by a memorandum of understanding signed with UAE drone manufacturer Eanan to develop and deploy innovative drone technologies and advanced AI solutions for municipal, field and inspection operations.
SO WHAT? –Dubai Municipality is already an intensive user of AI and other digital technologies for city planning and operations management. The authority already has a multitude of sensors and intelligent systems providing real time data on weather, air pollution, rainfall and drainage, sewage systems and other data points. Last month it officially launched its Dubai Live platform for city operations management, which integrates real-time data from across the city. The introduction of the Smart Municipality Eye initiative introduces another data set, moving Dubai Municipality forward in its journey from reactive to predictive management.
