Abu Dhabi is fast becoming a leading global artificial intelligence R&D hub, with a growing number of labs researching a wide variety of areas impacted by AI.
This year Khalifa University opened its 6G Centre, to focus on researching how sixth-generation wireless technology will be enabled by AI.
R&D is well underway to develop the infrastructure, services and standards that will shape 6G. We'll discuss why artificial intelligence will be at the heart of 6G networks!
While 5G speeds and bandwidth have allowed applications and data to move to work at the network’s edge, AI could become the heart of 6G networks.

Prof. Merouane Debbah, Professor at Khalifa University of Science and Technology in Abu Dhabi and founding director of the 6G Center. Prior to joining Khalifa University this year, Dr. Debbah was Chief Researcher at the Technology Innovation Institute's AI Cross-Center Unit and of the AI and Digital Science Research Center. His recent work led to the development of NOOR (on its release in 2022, the largest Arabic LLM) and Falcon (on its release, the top ranked open source large language model) released in 2023.
