Saudi academy opens first-of-its-kind AI hub, targets Saudi NLP talent
#SaudiArabia #CoEs - Saudi technology training institution Tuwaiq Academy, affiliated with the Saudi Federation for Cybersecurity, Programming and Drones, has launched a Middle East first-of-its-kind AI Innovation Centre in collaboration with NVIDIA. The partnership with the US AI chipmaker aims to build national capabilities in AI and emerging technologies. The AI Innovation Centre will initially focus on developing Saudi talent’s skills in natural language processing (NLP) applications through joint programmes between Tuwaiq and NVIDIA experts. The collaboration reinforces the academy’s efforts to building national AI capabilities through practical, application-centred training.
SO WHAT? - While Saudi Arabia’s investments in AI infrastructure and government transformation programmes often steal the limelight, the new Tuwaiq-NVIDIA initiative is part of the country’s massive effort to develop an AI-skilled workforce. The new AI Innovation Centre will help to expand the pipeline of people trained to build and operate AI platforms. The announcement also underscores the high priority the Kingdom places on partnerships with key AI infrastructure manufacturers.

The partnership aims to develop national capabilities in AI and emerging technologies, with a specific focus on building Saudi talent’s skills in natural language processing (NLP) applications.
The initiative brings together experts and specialists from Tuwaiq Academy and NVIDIA to support innovation and collaborative programme development.
The centre aims to graduate globally certified ambassadors equipped with the skills and expertise required by the labour market, as part of a wider push to advance innovation and digital transformation.
Abdulaziz Alhammadi, CEO of Tuwaiq Academy, said the academy’s programmes are based on practical, application-focused learning methodology designed to strengthen Saudi Arabia’s technological leadership.
The launch event was attended by representatives from NVIDIA, alongside partners and industry experts.
The academy aims to qualify 100,000 programmers by 2030 through various training courses and programming bootcamps, in line with the education and workforce goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
Tuwaiq Academy was launched in 2019 and is based at Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University in Riyadh.
ZOOM OUT - NVIDIA has been building out an increasing number of knowledge-based partnerships across the MENA region in recent years. It opened an AI Innovation Centre in Tunisia's Novation City technology park in 2024, aimed at training developers and supporting AI adoption across Africa. Last year, NVIDIA partnered with Abu Dhabi's Technology Innovation Institute to launch the Middle East's first joint AI and robotics lab. The company also partnered with AI group G42 on establishing an Earth-2 Climate Tech Lab in Abu Dhabi.
