SO WHAT? - The UAE Artificial Intelligence Camp is one of the world’s most successful and long-standing AI education programmes aimed at a broad cross-section of students. The camp forms part of the UAE's systematic approach to building domestic AI capabilities across all age groups rather than relying solely on specialised institutions or imported talent. The programme's scale and multi-generational approach position the country as one of the leaders in AI workforce development, inspiring young people to learn about AI, leverage AI in their work and studies, and pursue AI-related careers.
Here are some key details about the UAE AI Camp:
The UAE National Programme for Artificial Intelligence has concluded the seventh edition of the UAE Artificial Intelligence Camp, attracting over 34,000 participants across all educational levels.
The annual programme held each summer, engages participants from children through AI experts, with comprehensive programming designed around core themes, The seven themes are: the future of AI, data science and machine learning, smart applications in education, healthcare and finance, web and robotics development, AI governance and ethics, cybersecurity, and virtual and augmented reality.

Participants gained practical experience through hackathons, challenges, and hands-on exercises designed to bridge theory with real-world applications. Activities were also aligned with the country’s priority economic sectors including healthcare, finance, and education.
The camp attracted broad societal participation spanning school and university students, young professionals, and established AI and coding experts.
ZOOM OUT - The UAE was among the first countries globally to prioritise AI education for school students as part of its national strategy. The UAE AI Camp provides a shining example of this, with seven years of systematic youth engagement in AI and coding skills. However in May 2025, the UAE announced its boldest move yet: a nationwide AI education rollout for all government school students from kindergarten to grade 12, beginning this academic year. Few countries have launched grassroots national programmes of this scale.
