Dubai Health announces UAE’s first AI Literacy Framework
New AI Literacy Framework to help build AI skills across health and education
#UAE #AIeducation – Dubai Health has launched the Artificial Intelligence Literacy Framework (ALiF), the UAE’s first structured framework for building AI competence in professional sectors. Developed by Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU), ALiF was announced during Dubai AI Week 2025 and offers certified, online, role-specific training across healthcare, research, and education. The programme forms part of a broader push to integrate ethical and effective AI use into national digital transformation efforts.
SO WHAT? – In the race to integrate AI, many governments face the same challenge: building broad, sector-specific understanding of how to use it responsibly. By introducing ALiF, Dubai Health aims to offer a scalable, role-focused model that makes AI literacy practical, accessible, and aligned with real-world needs, starting in healthcare, but designed to expand across all professions.
Here are some key points about this announcement:
Dubai Health launched the Artificial Intelligence Literacy Framework (ALiF), the UAE’s first AI literacy framework, at Dubai AI Week 2025.
Developed by Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU), the programme’s initial focus is healthcare, education, and life sciences research roles. ALiF is not just a framework, it is a full education programme in AI literacy addressing all levels of employment.
ALiF begins with a free entry-level course (AI Launchpad) and progresses through Foundation, Intermediate, and Advanced levels.
Five role-specific tracks are available: for learners, educators, researchers, clinicians, and administrators, plus a Strategic AI Leadership track.
Courses are online, certified, and designed for self-paced learning—ensuring flexibility for busy professionals.
The framework embeds ethical considerations and practical applications, not just technical skills, to foster responsible AI engagement.
MBRU’s prior open learning programme during the COVID-19 pandemic reached over 1 million participants, showcasing its track record in scalable education.
ALiF supports Dubai Health’s wider strategy for AI adoption and digital transformation across the public health sector.
Registration for ALiF opens to the public on 23 April 2025
The initiative reflects the UAE’s broader goal of becoming a global leader in AI education and workforce readiness.
