ADQ starts corporate AI innovation programme
Silal, AD Ports and Agthia join ADQ Spring AI innovation initiative
#UAE #innnovation - Abu Dhabi-based sovereign wealth investor ADQ has launched Sprint AI, a comprehensive corporate innovation programme designed to accelerate artificial intelligence adoption across its portfolio companies. The initiative targets three core areas: advanced data infrastructure development, AI research and commercialisation, and innovative proof-of-concept solutions. Initial participants in the new AI programme include Abu Dhabi food technology company Silal, UAE food and beverage firm Agthia Group, and Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange-listed logistics operator AD Ports Group (ADX: ADPORTS), all part of ADQ's $251 billion investment portfolio.
SO WHAT? - ADQ has long been an investor in AI, both for the group’s digital transformation and via equity stakes of AI companies. The new Sprint AI programme aims to accelerate AI innovation across the ADQ’s portfolio companies and is supplementary to the group’s many digital transformation initiatives. The new innovation initiative has a particular focus on commercialising new AI concepts, seeking to drive the maximum value from AI investment.
Here are some key details about ADQ and Sprint AI:
Abu Dhabi-based ADQ has launched Sprint AI, a comprehensive corporate innovation programme designed to accelerate AI adoption and the development of new AI concepts, products and services across portfolio companies.
The news was revealed at a recent board meeting of ADQ, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and Member of the Supreme Council for Financial and Economic Affairs (SCFEA).
ADQ's Sprint AI programme operates through three strategic pillars:
Supporting the development of advanced data infrastructure, governance, and analytics capabilities;
Facilitating AI research, adoption, and commercialisation across key sectors;
Mobilising the development of innovative proof-of-concept solutions and pilot projects.
Initial participants represent critical sectors including Silal's food and agriculture technology operations, AD Ports Group's logistics and maritime services, and Agthia Group's food and beverage manufacturing
The programme builds on a number of other group digital transformation initiatives, including the recent introduction of Q, an AI-powered board advisor system that provides strategic insights during meetings.
Sprint AI aims to strengthen future-readiness and operational resilience across ADQ's portfolio through strategic technology deployment and funding allocation.
ADQ manages USD 251 billion in assets across energy, transport, food, healthcare, financial services, infrastructure, real estate, and sustainable manufacturing sectors.
ZOOM OUT - Earlier this year, ADQ's revealed its pioneering use of AI in corporate governance through its board advisor Q. The sophisticated voice-enabled system combines multiple AI models to provide strategic insights during board meetings. Abu Dhabi-based executive AI solutions developer aleria developed Q to draw upon ADQ's extensive knowledge base and guide boardroom decision-making. This follows similar innovation by International Holding Company, which deployed AI Observer Aiden Insight last year (another group chaired by Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan).
