Thank you Hiro! I agree and this could be just the beginning. I may come back to this topic in another article. However, in brief, building local expertise, AI technology, IP rights, policies and data sovereignty has been core to both Saudi Arabia's and the UAE's AI plans over the past five years. Those governments identified early on that a digital divide could appear quite quickly with AI, and wanted not just to protect their interests, but to actually capitalise on the economic opportunity better than anyone else. It will be interesting to revisit some of these bilateral agreements in 2-3 years time and see how all parties have benefited.
