AppliedAI closes Pre-Series B funding round
Mubadala and Arbor Ventures back enterprise AI expansion
#UAE #funding- Abu Dhabi AI company AppliedAI has completed a pre-Series B funding round led by Abu Dhabi sovereign investor Mubadala Investment Company’s VentureMENA and global venture capital investor Arbor Ventures. Founded in the United States in 2021 by Arya Bolurfrushan and relocated to Abu Dhabi in 2022, AppliedAI develops AI-native workflow solutions for regulated industries with flagship platform Opus enabling automation of mission-critical processes whilst maintaining human oversight, auditability and compliance.
The new capital will accelerate global expansion, deepen enterprise deployments and strengthen AppliedAI’s position as a private-sector AI champion emerging from Abu Dhabi, with over 350 employees and active deployments across the United States, Europe and the Middle East.
SO WHAT? - The investment reflects growing recognition that enterprise AI adoption is shifting from experimentation to operational deployment requiring trust, measurable productivity and compliance in regulated environments. AppliedAI’s focus on mission-critical workflows in healthcare, insurance, banking, energy and government sectors addresses the gap between AI model capability and institutional readiness. For the UAE, the backing demonstrates commitment to enabling private-sector-led enterprise technology platforms complementing national AI capabilities.
Here are some key points regarding the funding round:
Abu Dhabi AI company AppliedAI has announced the completion of a pre-Series B funding round led by Mubadala Investment Company’s VentureMENA (MENA Venture Capital Fund) and global venture capital investor Arbor Ventures. The size of the funding round was not made public. The company previously raised $55 million in an oversubscribed Series A funding round announced in June 2025.
AppliedAI launched Opus in 2025, an AI-native workflow platform enabling large organisations to redesign, automate and supervise complex operational processes in highly regulated environments including healthcare, insurance, banking, energy and government.
The platform integrates agentic AI with human oversight, auditability and security, allowing enterprises to achieve order-of-magnitude productivity improvements whilst maintaining full governance and control over mission-critical operations.
The majority of Opus pilots have transitioned to production settings where accuracy, resilience and compliance are non-negotiable, supporting organisations transitioning from manual, document-intensive operations to AI-native workflows at scale.
Opus is powered by a first-of-its-kind Large Work Model and AppliedAI’s proprietary Work Knowledge Graph, with different model versions handling both complex use cases and optimal efficiency depending on priority.
Mubadala Investment Company’s VentureMENA invests in transformative technology leaders from the MENA region setting global benchmarks in innovation and responsible AI deployment.
The pre-Series B investment reflects shared conviction that the next phase of AI adoption will be defined by operational trust, measurable productivity and global deployability rather than experimentation.
Abu Dhabi-based AppliedAI is now among the UAE’s most established exporters of enterprise AI technology, with over 350 employees and active deployments across the United States, Europe and the Middle East.
ZOOM OUT - The pre-Series B follows AppliedAI’s oversubscribed $55 million Series A round announced in February 2025 at a pre-investment valuation of $300 million, with participation from Dubai-based Middle East Venture Partners, AI powerhouse G42, Silicon Valley investor Bessemer Venture Partners, and UAE telecom and technology group e&. The Series A funding combined regional expertise from MEVP and G42 with international venture capital experience from Bessemer Venture Partners, whilst strategic partner e& brought telecommunications and digital infrastructure capabilities. AppliedAI relocated headquarters from London to Abu Dhabi in 2022, establishing partnerships within the UAE’s expanding AI ecosystem.
