Dubai boasts 800 AI companies
Study reveals 66% of artificial intelligence companies use Dubai as their global hub
#UAE #economy - A new study confirms Dubai’s ascendance as an emerging global hub for artificial intelligence. More than 800 AI-specialised companies now operate in the city, according to a study by the Dubai Center for Artificial Intelligence (DCAI). 66 per cent of AI companies surveyed have their global hub located in Dubai. The findings underscore Dubai's strategic focus on fostering AI-driven innovation and entrepreneurship, a focus that has increased with the formation of the Dubai Centre for AI last year.
SO WHAT? - Dubai's rapid ascent as a global AI hub is no accident. The emirate continues to double-down on its strategy to establish itself as an AI hub, with new initiatives to attract new companies, nurture startups and drive AI adoption. Earlier this year, the Government of Dubai consolidated all its AI plans under a new Dubai Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence. The blueprint aligns AI initiatives and investments under one strategic plan, under the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33). The findings of the new report are a positive sign.
Here are some key details about the study’s findings:
Dubai Center for Artificial Intelligence (DCAI) has announced the results of a survey on the growth of the AI sector in Dubai, finding more than 800 AI-specialised companies in the emirate.
Nearly half (48%) of the firms in the survey focus on AI software development as their core business.
66% of the AI firms surveyed have chosen Dubai as a global hub to test, implement, and apply various AI technologies.
72% of the AI companies surveyed were classified as small and medium enterprises (SMEs) or startups, reflecting a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The ‘Dubai Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence,’ launched in April 2024, provides a roadmap for integrating AI across vital sectors, while Dubai’s annual ‘AI Retreat’ facilitates public-private collaboration.
In June 2024, Dubai appointed 22 AI Chief Executives to accelerate AI adoption across government operations and reinforce the emirate’s technological leadership.
Dubai’s AI acceleration plan has created a fertile ground for investment and innovation, attracting global companies to collaborate on advanced AI projects.
