#Qatar #government – Qatar’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has signed a five-year partnership with San Francisco-based AI data company Scale AI to integrate artificial intelligence into public services, according to a statement made by the company to global newswire Reuters. The agreement will introduce predictive analytics, automation, and advanced data analysis to enhance operational efficiency. Over the next five years, Scale AI could develop more than 50 AI applications for the Qatari government as part of the deal. The company is a key sponsor of the Web Summit Qatar which began today, and the Founder and CEO of Scale AI Alexandr Wang is a keynote speaker.
SO WHAT? – Although Saudi Arabia and the UAE have stolen the limelight over the past few years, moving fast to develop and implement national AI strategies, Qatar is now making significant investments to both drive AI adoption and attract global AI companies to the country. Last year saw a number of key deals establishing government technology initiatives, investment funds and startup programmes to support the AI and emerging technology sector. According to a recent report by Invest Qatar and global consulting firm Accenture Qatar’s government has invested $2.5 billion in data and AI, and aims to leverage AI to generate $11 billion for the national economy, creating 26,000 jobs.

Qatar’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has signed a five-year partnership with Scale AI, a U.S.-based AI data company. No financial details of the agreement were disclosed. The agreement was signed by the Minister of CIT, His Excellency Mohammed bin Ali bin Mohammed Al Mannai
and Founder and CEO of Scale AI Alexandr Wang.
Founded in 2016, Scale AI provides high-quality labelled data for AI training, with clients including Microsoft, Morgan Stanley, OpenAI, and Cohere.
The company’s proprietary data engine supports advanced large language models, generative AI, and computer vision applications.
The deal is potentially far-reaching and will introduce AI-powered tools such as predictive analytics, automation, and data analysis to streamline government operations.
Scale AI expects to develop more than 50 AI applications for Qatar’s government as part of the agreement.
Scale AI has been strengthening its presence in Qatar, with executives speaking at events and meeting government officials. Trevor Thompson, Global Head of Growth for Scale AI visited Doha last month and met government decision makers including the governor of Qatar Central Bank.
The company is sponsoring this week’s Web Summit Qatar, further emphasising its commitment to Qatar, with founder and CEO of Scale AI Alexandr Wang speaking at the event.
