SDAIA announces accreditation for AI service providers
New certification initiative boosts AI reliability and maturity in KSA
#SaudiArabia #serviceproviders – Saudi Data and Artificial Intellgience Authority (SDAIA) has introduced an accreditation for AI service providers, marking a significant step toward improving AI reliability and maturity in the Kingdom. The initiative aims to elevate the quality of AI products and services available in the Kingdom and to encourage the responsible use of AI products and services. The certification for service providers will be valid for one year.
SO WHAT? – As public and private organisations across the Middle East focus more on developing and implementing AI solutions, the need for trusted AI service providers is becoming key to both corporate success and ecosystem growth. Earlier this week, Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DCAI) introduced the Dubai AI Seal to certify trustworthy AI companies, to provide a reliable way for private and public sector organisations to verify AI service providers. The new SDAIA certification programme has similar aims, aiming to take some of the pain away from choosing AI service providers.
Here are some key points about the new certification programme:
Saudi Data and Artificial Intellgience Authority (SDAIA) has launched an accreditation for AI service providers in Saudi Arabia this week. The initiative assesses AI maturity of service providers via the National Data Governance Platform and awards certificates.
Service providers are incentivised to qualify and improve their accreditation under the programme, which ranks companies’ AI and data maturity as Conscious, Adoptive, Committed, Reliable, or Pioneer.
Certificates are valid for one year and reflect adherence to SDAIA’s AI ethical principles and guidelines.
This initiative aims to improve AI product quality for citizens, residents, and visitors, encourage the responsible use of AI products and services, whilst elevating the quality of AI products and services available in the Kingdom.
Entities can submit their applications for the service to obtain the certificate and tags via the National Data Governance Platform.
ZOOM OUT – Globally, AI ethics and governance are growing priorities, with governments establishing frameworks to regulate AI’s impact on society. Saudi Arabia has set out to lead in this space, with SDAIA developing an increasingly comprehensive ser of regulations, guidelines and best practices covering data protection, the appointment of data protection officers (DPOs), cloud data, commercial cloud services, and ethical usage of AI. The authority has taken the initiative to ensure government organisations, commercial companies and consumers in Saudi Arabia are both aware of their rights and obligations for AI and data.
