Burjeel Holdings, Hippocratic AI partner on GenAI for clinics & hospitals

#UAE #healthcare – Abu Dhabi-headquartered Gulf healthcare provider Burjeel Holdings has partnered with U.S.-based Hippocratic AI to roll-out safety-focused Generative AI healthcare agents across its network of hospitals, clinics, and wellness centres in the UAE and Oman. The AI agents will support patient-facing, non-diagnostic clinical services such as appointment scheduling, follow-ups, and education, helping to reduce wait times and improve patient experience. The announcement was made during Abu Dhabi Global Healthcare Week.
SO WHAT? – With a network comprising 100 hospitals, medical clinics, wellness centres, and pharmacies across the UAE, Oman, and Saudi Arabia, Burjeel Holdings is one of the region’s largest healthcare providers. So, the deal announced with Hippocratic AI this week could see the largest roll-out of healthcare GenAI agents in the GCC states to-date. Last year, Burjeel Holding’s annual revenue grew by 10.5% to reach AED 5 billion ($1.36b), providing 6.5 million patients with a variety of health and medical services.
Some key details about the announcement:
Regional healthcare services group Burjeel Holdings and healthcare large language model pioneer Hippocratic AI have announced a strategic partnership that could see generative AI agents deployed across across dozens of hospitals and clinics in the UAE and Oman.
The agents will manage patient-facing non-diagnostic clinical tasks, including health risk assessments, education, scheduling, and follow-ups, using culturally aware, multilingual dialogue.
The agents will be localised in Arabic language and the Emirati dialect to ensure inclusive access and culturally relevant care across Burjeel’s diverse patient base.
The GenAI agents will be integrated across clinical specialties like oncology, cardiology, neurology, and orthopaedics to support both admin and patient-facing roles. The agents can conduct sustained, multi-turn dialogue with patients, designed to meet high standards for empathy, compliance, and safety.
Burjeel Holdings operates 100 healthcare assets across the UAE, Oman, and Saudi Arabia, including 19 hospitals and 29 medical centres.
The AI deployment supports Burjeel’s broader mission to deliver better outcomes through technology while maintaining human-centric care delivery.
Hippocratic AI is a pioneer in GenAI for healthcare, developing a safety-first LLM for healthcare, backed by $278 million in funding from top VCs and health systems.
ZOOM OUT – As healthcare systems globally face rising demand and staff shortages,, Generative AI holds immense potential to transform global healthcare, from easing physician workloads to improving preventative care and patient understanding. Yet adoption remains slow due to the sector’s zero-tolerance for error in clinical data and advice. Bridging this gap requires not just better models, but safer, medically robust ones. GenAI specialist Hippocratic AI has already gone live with more than a dozen healthcare groups and its GenAI agents have completed hundreds of thousands of patient voice calls. Results to-date have been encouraging with patients awarding Hippocratic GenAI agent interactions an average rating of 8.7 out of 10.
