du, AGPC deploy Industrial AI Vision Platform for manufacturing
Real-world deployment targets quality, traceability and automation
#UAE #Industry4.0 – UAE telecom and digital services company du and Abu Dhabi-based steel pipe manufacturer Al Gharbia Pipe Company (AGPC), have announced the co-development of an Industrial AI Vision Platform across the manufacturer’s UAE operations. AGPC is a joint venture of UAE state-owned industrial holding company ADQ-owned Senaat, the world’s eighth largest steel producer JFE Steel, and global steel trading company Marubeni Itochu Steel, Showcased at Make it in the Emirates 2026, the new industrial platform delivers AI-based quality inspection, enhanced traceability and optimised decision-making across manufacturing operations in real time. The collaboration supports the UAE’s broader manufacturing transformation agenda through the development of sovereign AI infrastructure and locally developed solutions.
SO WHAT? – Industrial AI is moving from pilot programmes into live production environments across the UAE, and AGPC’s Industrial AI Vision Platform illustrates what this looks like in practice. Quality inspection and operational traceability are core to product certification, safety compliance and supply chain integrity in AGPC’s business. By applying AI vision technology to these processes at scale, du and AGPC are demonstrating that UAE-based industrial partnerships can deliver sovereign, production-grade AI solutions in one of the world’s most demanding manufacturing environments.
KEY POINTS:
UAE telecom du and Abu Dhabi-based steel pipe manufacturer Al Gharbia Pipe Company (AGPC) have deployed a co-developed Industrial AI Vision Platform across manufacturing operations in the UAE. The partnership was announced at Make it in the Emirates 2026, where du Tech is a strategic partner of the event’s invitation-only Intelligence Hub.
AGPC is a joint venture of three major industrial partners: ADQ-owned industrial investment holding company Senaat; JFE Steel, the world’s eighth largest steel manufacturer; and Marubeni Itochu Steel, a provider of commercial and logistical support to major global oil and gas companies. AGPC’s factory is located in Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD) and spans 52,000 square metres.
The Industrial AI Vision Platform enables AI-based quality inspection, enhanced operational traceability and optimised decision-making across manufacturing workflows, with real-time dashboards, visual analytics and AI-driven insights already active across fleet, logistics and infrastructure functions.
Quality inspection is a critical function in AGPC’s operations. The company manufactures longitudinally submerged arc welded (LSAW) steel pipes for industrial applications and holds accreditations including American Petroleum Institute certifications API 2B and 5L, ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001, and ADNOC In-Country Value certification (standards that demand rigorous, verifiable quality control at every stage of production).
The platform delivers operational monitoring across the full manufacturing value chain, giving decision-makers visibility into production performance, logistics and infrastructure in real time. This level of integrated operational intelligence was previously difficult to achieve at scale in manufacturing environments of this complexity.
The solution is built on sovereign AI infrastructure, aligning with the UAE’s priorities around technological sovereignty and economic diversification. Both du and AGPC frame the collaboration as a contribution to the UAE’s broader industrial transformation agenda, not simply a commercial technology deployment.
du Tech showcased the platform’s capabilities at Make it in the Emirates 2026 to senior government officials, international delegations and C-suite industry leaders. The interactive, offline demonstration used synthetic data to illustrate the platform’s operational intelligence capabilities across the manufacturing value chain.
ZOOM OUT – AGPC is already one of the most technologically advanced LSAW pipe manufacturers in the world and among the first large-scale manufacturers anywhere to embrace Industry 4.0. Established in 2015 at Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi, the company began pipe production in 2019 with a plant designed for 240,000 tonnes per year, equipped with second-generation JCO pipe forming press technology and shape automation systems. AI technology was embedded in its factory operations from an early stage, making the Industrial AI Vision Platform a natural extension of an existing commitment to intelligent manufacturing rather than a first step into it. For du, AGPC represents exactly the kind of sophisticated industrial partner that validates the real-world credentials of its AI capabilities.
