The creation of a new digital district is an attempt to capitalise on that momentum and consolidate technology infrastructure and talent density. As Saudi Arabia continues to invest heavily in technology development, digital infrastructure, talent and partnerships with global tech leaders, it has every chance of establishing a global tech hub for the new AI era.

The Board of Directors of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) has launched the Riyadh Digital Innovation District, aiming to reinforce the capital’s status as a global hub for tech talent and digital innovation.
Riyadh Digital Innovation District will focus on attracting specialised technology companies and talent across six fields: artificial intelligence and big data, cybersecurity, cloud computing and services, the Internet of Things, blockchain technology, and robotics and drones.
According to the RCRC, the new district will offer specialised incentives for large, medium-sized and fast-growing digital companies as well as innovative startups, alongside advanced digital infrastructure and business services.
The initiative is designed to support non-oil GDP growth by expanding the digital economy, enabling emerging companies, creating technology jobs and improving service efficiency and quality of life.
Saudi Arabia ranks second globally in the World Bank’s GovTech Maturity Index 2025, first in the 2025 ICT Development Index, and among the leading countries in the Stanford AI Index 2025.
Riyadh also topped the StartupBlink 2026 index, recording the fastest growth among the world’s top 100 cities and G20 capitals.
ZOOM OUT - The new Riyadh Digital Innovation District is announced just days before LEAP 2026, Saudi Arabia’s flagship technology event. LEAP opens in the capital on Monday, 31 August and runs through to Thursday, 3 September under the theme “Into New Worlds.” The fifth edition of LEAP is expected to draw more than 1,000 global speakers, over 1,800 technology companies, more than 600 startups and over 1,900 investors, with DeepFest as its dedicated AI programme.
