UAE Presidential Court launches AI agent as new 'spokesperson'
‘Zayed’ becomes the first AI-powered institutional spokesperson at UAE Presidential level
#UAE #GenAI – The International Affairs Office at the UAE Presidential Court has launched Zayed, an AI-powered spokesperson designed to communicate the Office’s initiatives, strategic priorities and global engagements. Named in honour of the UAE’s founding father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the initiative trials an AI-first approach to institutional communications at the highest level of UAE governance. The office aims to use the AI agent to deliver strategic messaging in a dynamic and accessible format and aligning with the country’s ambition to lead globally in AI-driven government transformation.
SO WHAT? – Governments typically communicate through press offices, ministers and official channels. The UAE Presidential Court is now adding an AI-powered spokesperson to that mix, trailblazing AI-first communications for government. Naming the new AI agent Zayed, after the nation’s founding father, is a smart choice that connects the new AI communicator to national identity and values. The link to the new AI agent has not yet been shared publically, but the initiative will surely be watched closely by government stakeholders both in the UAE and globally.
KEY POINTS:
The International Affairs Office at the UAE Presidential Court has launched Zayed, an AI-powered spokesperson named after UAE founding father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. According to the Office, the AI agent has been designed to communicate the Office’s initiatives, strategic priorities and news.
Zayed represents a new AI-first model for institutional communications, using AI to deliver content and strategic messaging in a format described as dynamic, accessible and future-oriented. The initiative is the first AI-powered spokesperson to operate at the level of the UAE Presidential Court.
The International Affairs Office is a specialised body focused on advancing strategic international projects with a particular emphasis on science, research and diplomacy. It plays a central role in strengthening UAE soft power, expanding international cooperation and building strategic partnerships on the global stage.
The initiative is aligned with the UAE Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031, which aims to position the UAE as a leading global hub for AI, advanced technologies and next-generation government services.
Engaging younger generations is identified as a primary communications objective. Zayed is designed to broaden the Office’s reach across age groups and create new opportunities for meaningful engagement with audiences who consume content through digital and AI-driven platforms rather than traditional media channels.
The launch reflects a much wider integration of AI across UAE government institutions, coming as the country simultaneously deploys agentic AI across the entire public sector, establishes a new Artificial Intelligence and Data Authority, and restructures its ministerial architecture around AI governance.
ZOOM OUT - Last week, the UAE government directed 50 federal entities to complete a full agentic AI service launch within 90 days. The project is part of the UAE’s agentic AI government transformation programme, which targets 50% of government sectors, services and operations within two years. Each project will be structured across three phases: an exploration phase to select the appropriate service or operation; a design phase to develop the target journey; and an implementation phase. The initiative aims to move public sector AI usage beyond chatbots and assistants towards AI systems capable of executing multi-step tasks and workflows.
