Zoom opens second Saudi data centre backed by $75 million investment
New facility at Center3 supports government, enterprise and critical national infrastructure
#SaudiArabia #datacentres – US-based video communications platform Zoom has launched a new data centre in Saudi Arabia, hosted at Riyadh-based carrier-neutral data centre and subsea cable operator center3, building on a $75 million investment commitment committed to the Kingdom last year. The new facility expands capacity for government entities, enterprises and critical national infrastructure organisations requiring local data residency, and arrives as Saudi Arabia designates 2026 as the Year of Artificial Intelligence.
SO WHAT? – Zoom’s second Saudi data centre provides proof of market growth and a firm commitment to meeting the needs of government and regulated industries in the Kingdom. Local data residency is a critical requirement for Saudi government and other critical infrastructure clients. By adding capacity at center3, a facility connected to subsea cable systems spanning Europe, Asia and Africa, Zoom is positioning itself to serve the full spectrum of Saudi enterprise and public sector demand as AI-powered collaboration tools become standard.
KEY POINTS:
Zoom has launched a new data centre in Saudi Arabia, hosted at center3, a Saudi-headquartered carrier-neutral data centre and subsea cable operator connecting Europe, Asia and Africa. The facility adds meaningful capacity to Zoom’s existing Saudi infrastructure.
The launch builds on a $75 million investment pledge made by Zoom to Saudi Arabia last year, focused on AI-enabled innovation and the advanced infrastructure required to scale it across government and enterprise environments.
Zoom’s first regional Saudi data centre was established in 2023, already serving customers with local data residency requirements. The new facility enhances capabilities specifically for government entities, enterprises and critical national infrastructure organisations.
The launch event was held under the patronage of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT). Guests included His Excellency Ahmed Alsuwaiyan, Governor of the Digital Government Authority, and representatives from Saudi energy giant Saudi Aramco.
The new facility arrives as Saudi Arabia designates 2026 the Year of Artificial Intelligence, a national initiative to renew emphasis on applying advanced technologies in practical, high-impact ways across government and industry.
Zoom recently launched ZoomMate, its first AI teammate designed to turn meeting conversations into completed work, alongside an AI Productivity Suite that allows teams to generate presentations, reports and other deliverables directly from meeting context — products directly relevant to Saudi enterprise and government clients.
center3’s position as a carrier-neutral operator connected to subsea cable infrastructure linking Europe, Asia and Africa gives the facility strategic connectivity advantages for multinational organisations and government entities operating across multiple regions from a Saudi base.
ZOOM OUT – Zoom's Saudi expansion has been building steadily for several years. The company established its first Saudi data centre in February 2023, becoming one of the first unified communications providers to host an AI solution locally in the Kingdom. Zoom established its regional headquarters in Riyadh in 2025, deepening its operational commitment to the market. At LEAP 2025, the company signalled its intention to invest significantly in the Kingdom over the following three years, flagging plans local data centre announced today.
