#SaudiArabia #AIInfrastructure - Saudi Arabia is set to add up to 84 megawatts (MW) of AI computing capacity, or about 27,000 GPUs, under an expanded deal between HUMAIN and US chipmaker NVIDIA. The two companies made the announcement at NVDIA’s GTC Berlin event this week. Deployment starts in the fourth quarter of 2026 with 14 MW of Blackwell HGX B300 systems. In addition, a planned 70 MW of NVIDIA”s multi-rack, pod-scale AI supercomputing platform Vera Rubin capacity follows from mid-2027, including 50 MW for a US client.
SO WHAT? - It is noteworthy that not only is HUMAIN buying the latest NVIDIA chips and platforms, but nearly 60% of the planned capacity is earmarked for one US client. That advances the Kingdom’s ambition to become a key supplier of AI compute to global markets, in addition to ramping up capacity for national needs. The remaining compute goes to HUMAIN Cloud, which sells access to AI companies, government entities and developers.
KEY POINTS:
Saudi Arabia’s national AI company HUMAIN and NVIDIA this week announced an expanded collaboration at GTC Berlin, covering a multi-phase programme of up to 84 megawatts of AI compute in Saudi Arabia. HUMAIN expects it to require about 27,000 NVIDIA GPUs.
The first phase is 14 MW of NVIDIA Blackwell HGX B300 systems, about 6,000 GPUs linked by Quantum-X800 InfiniBand networking. Deployment begins in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The B300 capacity will support HUMAIN Cloud, serving AI companies, public entities and local organisations that need advanced AI compute. Through the cloud, customers can train, fine-tune and deploy models on Saudi-based infrastructure.
A planned 50
MW of NVIDIA Vera Rubin infrastructure, targeted from June 2027, will provide dedicated capacity for frontier-scale AI workloads for a US client. The release doesn’t name the client.
A further 20 MW of Vera Rubin, linked by Quantum-X800 InfiniBand, is targeted for HUMAIN Cloud from July or August 2027. The two Vera Rubin phases total 70 MW, or about 21,000 GPUs.
HUMAIN’s estimated Vera Rubin figures remain subject to final agreements and deployment plans. HUMAIN plans to build the deployments using the NVIDIA DSX AI Factory Platform, as part of the wider push to build AI factories in the Kingdom.
HUMAIN plans to deploy about 3 gigawatts of data centre capacity by 2030 and more than 6 GW by 2034. The 84 MW announced this week equates to about 3% of the 2030 target.
HUMAIN is building an integrated AI ecosystem that connects infrastructure and compute with models, platforms and applications.
ZOOM OUT - NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin platform entered full production in May, according to the company, with a claimed 10x agent throughput over Grace Blackwell. Hundreds of suppliers across 350+ factories in 30 countries are building systems for it (150 of them in Taiwan). This month, NVIDIA added DSX POD, a reference design for Vera Rubin factories built in modular containers. It says this cuts deployment at a prepared site from six months to as little as 14 days. Partners including Dell Technologies, HPE, Lenovo, Schneider Electric and Vertiv plan to deliver them in early 2027.
ZOOM OUT - HUMAIN launched the first working infrastructure of the NVIDIA partnership in September. On 1 September, the PIF-owned company opened its AI cloud in Saudi Arabia on NVIDIA HGX B300 Blackwell Ultra systems, with the Ministry of Commerce being among its first customers. The cloud runs the ministry's regulatory inspections, commercial fraud detection and business registration. HUMAIN has reported cluster utilisation of above 90 percent, and plans to scale to roughly 35 MW by mid-2027. That capacity represents a subset of earlier announced plan for up to 500 MW of AI factories and several hundred thousand NVIDIA GPUs deployed over five years. The 84 MW announced in October adds more clarity to the infrastructure build-out.
