Paragon-Adeer, Plug & Play to launch AI Campus in New Cairo
The AI 100 programme targets 100 Egyptian AI startups by 2030
#Egypt #startups — Orange Egypt has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Cairo and Riyadh-based smart urban developer Paragon | Adeer to launch Egypt’s first AI Campus at the Sumou Boulevard development in New Cairo, in partnership with global innovation platform Plug and Play. Signed at the Grand Egyptian Museum in the presence of Ministry of Communications and Information Technology officials, the initiative spans 500 acres and is designed to serve as a regional innovation hub for startups and entrepreneurs. The AI Campus will host the AI 100 Programme, a four-year initiative targeting the developing of 100 growth-stage AI startups in Egypt by 2030.
SO WHAT? — Egypt has a large and growing technology talent base, but converting that talent into globally competitive AI companies requires infrastructure, mentorship, capital access and international market connections. The AI Campus aims to deliver all four in a single integrated environment. The involvement of Plug and Play, one of the world’s leading startup accelerators, which has been active in Egypt for more than twenty years, gives the initiative credibility from day on.
Orange Egypt and Egyptian-Saudi real estate developer Paragon | Adeer have signed an MoU to launch Egypt’s first AI Campus in partnership with Plug and Play at Sumou Boulevard in New Cairo. Covering 500 acres the AI Campus will be a regional innovation hub connecting startups, investors and technology partners across the Middle East and Africa.
The campus will be founded on three core pillars: AI and innovation, education and energy efficiency.
Orange Egypt will lead development of the campus’s smart digital infrastructure, deploying 5G connectivity, Internet of Things solutions and intelligent communication systems to create a fully connected environment designed to support innovation and operational efficiency at scale.
Meanwhile Paragon | Adeer in partnership with Schneider Electric and Plug and Play have signed an MoU to launch the AI 100 Programme.
The AI 100 Programme is a four-year initiative targeting the development of 100 growth-stage AI startups in Egypt by 2030. The programme will offer bootcamps, industry and venture workshops, applied AI training, capital readiness tracks and within the AI Campus ecosystem.
Global innovation platform Plug and Play brings its international startup network to the initiative, connecting Egyptian AI companies to global markets and investor communities. Schneider Electric will contribute expertise in sustainable energy infrastructure to the project.
The launch event was held Grand Egyptian Museum and was attended by senior government and business figures including Egypt’s Minister of Supply, alongside executives from Sumou Holding Group and Athar Holding Group.
The initiative directly supports Egypt’s Digital Egypt Strategy and Vision 2030, positioning the AI Campus as a structural component of the country’s broader push to establish Cairo as a competitive regional hub for artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
Paragon | Adeer is a joint venture between Egypt-based Paragon Developments and Saudi Arabia-based Adeer International, backed by Sumou Investment, a subsidiary of Saudi group Sumou Holding. The AI Campus marks Sumou Holding’s entry into the Egyptian market through Adeer International.
ZOOM OUT — The AI Campus sits within the $1.4 billion Sumou Boulevard mixed-use development in Mostakbal City, New Cairo.
