UAE issues stamps marking AI curriculum for schools launch
Four-stamp collection highlights classroom technology integration
#UAE #education - National postal service Emirates Post has issued a commemorative stamp set marking the integration of artificial intelligence as a formal subject within the UAE school curriculum. The four-stamp collection, developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, coincides with the rollout of AI education across government schools from kindergarten through Grade 12 starting in the 2025-2026 academic year. The programme aims to equip students with foundational knowledge of AI principles and applications whilst developing critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities aligned with the UAE’s digital transformation agenda and human capital development priorities.
SO WHAT? - The UAE is among the first countries globally to integrate AI as a formal curriculum subject across all school years, signalling a systematic approach to preparing students for technology-driven economies. The institutional embedding of AI education from kindergarten onwards represents a departure from optional technology programmes, instead making digital literacy and AI understanding core components of national education alongside traditional subjects. The UAE ministry of Education has also worked hard to ensure that the appropriate frameworks and teacher-training are in place to ensure child safety and ethical AI use.
ZOOM OUT - The UAE Cabinet approved the nationwide AI curriculum rollout in May 2025, covering approximately 300,000 students in government schools. The Ministry of Education developed the programme in partnership with G42 Group company Presight, AI71, Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) and Emirates College for Advanced Education. The new AI curriculum spans seven areas including foundational concepts, data and algorithms, ethical awareness and real-world applications. The curriculum offers age-appropriate units from kindergarten through Grade 12, integrated within existing school schedules as part of the Computing, Creative Design and Innovation subject without requiring additional teaching hours.
