UAE launches strategic track for federal Agentic AI project
Workshop marks the start of the AI deployment phase for future-ready governance

The workshop marked the operational start of deploying AI at an executive-level to enable future-ready governance. The strategic track focuses on embedding AI into policy formulation, foresight and decision-making across seven pillars under the UAE Government 4.0 framework. The UAE aims to convert 50 percent of federal government operations to agentic AI within two years.
SO WHAT? - The strategic track of the Agentic AI for UAE Government Project is one deployment step within a wider sequence, but it targets a layer of government than many AI rollouts globally omit. In addition to leveraging Agentic AI for transactional services like tax or procurement, the UAE government aims to ramp up its use of Agentic AI for policy-making and strategic foresight. Extending Agentic AI into executive decision-making is an ambitious step, and one that may well test the government’s ‘human leads, AI enables’ principle.

The workshop marked the operational start of the strategic government workstream within the federal Agentic AI Project, which aims to convert 50% of government operations, services and tasks into agentic AI-driven models within two years.
Huda Al Hashimi, Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Strategic Affairs, said the session marks the start of deploying AI models to strengthen the UAE’s position in future-ready governance.
The strategic track spans seven pillars:
strategy and projects,
foresight and strategic
intelligence, policies,
structures and governance,
government performance,
global competitiveness, and
innovation in government work.
The strategic track will operate under the principle “human leads, AI enables,” and outlined timeline priorities, task classification frameworks and mechanisms for cross-entity integration to reduce duplication.
The strategic track follows a series of earlier milestones in 2026: the April framework announcement by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the first cohort of four operational AI agents unveiled in May covering procurement, tax auditing, customer happiness and technical support, and a 90-day sprints for 50 federal entities to develop AI agents announced in June.
Agentic AI for UAE Government Project was announced as a world first, moving the UAE beyond digital transformation toward autonomous, intelligence-driven government. The UAE aims to use Agentic AI platforms to monitor changes, manage operations and execute decisions in real time across the federal government without human intervention.
ZOOM OUT - The Agentic AI push by the federal government aligns closely with what's happening across the UAE’s public and private sectors. A recent global Confluent survey of over 4,600 technology chiefs found 38 percent of UAE firms already run agentic AI in production, against a global average of 32 percent. Tech executives are also prioritising real-time data pipelines, betting that autonomous agents are only as good as the data feeding them. Across all sectors the UAE is moving from experimentation into full Agentic AI deployment.
